All I am going to say is that Brett Micheals is the man of this show. Unfortuately, it's not that easy to get girls in reality but I find some comic relief of the ladies in the show. They are all obsessed with Brett in the hopes of winning his heart. Yet, it's hilarious how there use to be more and more new seasons of this show because he never wanted any of the girls that supposively "won his heart". Personally, I just like Brett Micheal's music from his band "Poison". Yet, I find some enjoyment of his adventures he has with the ladies in "Rock of Love".

Clayton Matto Fear Factor
Reality TV is laaaame to me. I don't see the point of it because nobody on any of the shows act normal infront of the camera. So no matter how "real" it seems to anybody else I'm not entertained by any of the crazy stunts dont by anybody on them besides the contestants on Fear Factor. I love that there are people crazy enough to go on national television and eat nasty bugs and animals or jump in a cage full of snakes or cockroaches. Idk about you but that stuff is extra nasty in my opinion. Reality television sucks and should be taken off of TV alltogether, Snookie needs to find a real job.
Reality TV
I barely watch TV because i spend most of my time doing something else. If i have time to watch tv i usually watch wipeout on ABC. It reminds me of mxc but the american version. People try to complete an obstacle and many of the obstacles involves you "wiping out", or falling off the obstacle. Its a fun show just for some mindless entertainment. I dont watch anything on MTV like Jersey Shore or Teen Mom. I dont see the entertainment in watching Jersey Shore like no one should care about Ronnie's relationship with Sammie.
Mindless Entertainment
It is fascinating how people can get attached to things so easily. For example, we watch people with funny accents go to the gym and do their laundry. We all know how ridiculous it is to spend valuable time of our personal lives and devote it to these other crazy people who have no idea we even exist. Don't get me wrong, it is humorous at times and I will occasionally catch myself tuning into their clubbing experiences, but I tend to focus more of my time on either House, Law & Order, Lost or ESPN (for the top 10 :) my favorite. It is just interesting to see how shows have changed over the years and to look at the shows on TVLand and complain about the color and sounds quality, and even the content.
RTV Slang
So Ed's post on GFF has me thinking... Jersey Shore and so many other rtv shows have made phrases such as GFF which I am assuming refers to the Jersey Shore tag for (Grenade Free Foundation) viral. Can you think of other phrases like this from Jersey Shore or other shows that have infiltrated into English slang? GTL for example?

The Downfall of Civilization
As I sit and watch shows like the infamous "Jersey Shore" or the always classy "Real World," I think to myself, what could be worse? Then I realize "Big Brother" answers that question. But what is it about the sheer stupidity behind these shows that keeps us entertained, that peeks our interest, and makes us familiarize ourselves with these people and their problems. But hey, its better than watching "Kardashians."
It's Addicting
Even though I know in the back of my head that most reality tv shows are scripted and not really "reality", I'm still addicted. I watch a lot of reality shows such as Keeping up with the Kardashians, The Hills, The City, The Real World, Jersey Shore, and probably a lot more. I think that even though I know they're not real and that they're all scripted I like to believe that it's all real while I'm watching it. I get caught up in all the drama in other people's lives when watching these shows that I actually believe it's real and wait to watch the next episode because I can't wait to see what happens. I think a huge part of the reason I start watching these shows and become so addicted to them is because of the media. I mean I don't even know why the Kardashians are famous or Snooki from the Jersey Shore but the reason I started watching their show in the first place was because they were always all over magazines and tv, and now I love them because they're so entertaining to watch. That sounds weird, but I know a lot of people feel the same way. I think the media is to blame.

Operation Repo
My favorite reality tv show would most definitely have to be operation repo. What could be better than seeing the shocked faces of the people who are getting their cars repossessed on national tv? The show is mostly entertaining because the concept behind it is just ridiculous and it never fails to give me a good laugh. You would also think that since it's humiliating for the people getting their property taken away it would make them want to blur out their faces but there are always those people who can't pass up their 15 minutes of fame. Basically, the crazier the people are, the more fun it is to watch. And trust me, there is always something crazy happening on that show.
Jersey Shore
Jersey Shore is by far the funniest RTV show on television, the cast members actually take themselves seriously while the entire world is laughing at them

Reality Television
Being deprived of television for the last three months I can undoubtedly say t.v. is not a necessity I need in my life. Even back home before I started college I almost never watched t.v. and when I did it was almost always the last recorded episodes of Glee, The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, or sometimes even Cake Boss. Therefore, since I view television as a whole as thoroughly unimportant, I've always found reality t.v. shows to be especially insignificant. That said, my friends are completely entitled to their own opinion, and are completely obsessed with in my view the most pointless show on all of television: Jersey Shore. I enjoy reality shows like Cake Boss because they demonstrate creativity and new ideas, while I just can not seem to take anything substantial from a show like Jersey Shore, or for that matter anything on MTV. Not to mention the fact that all reality shows on MTV are basically set up. One of my best friends appeared on Teen Cribs last summer and they told her and her friends word for word what to say and how to act as they toured her house. This leaves me to question. . . Is it really even reality television we're actually watching?
Gym/Tan/Laundry
My favorite reality TV show is Jersey Shore. There's just something about the show that keeps me watching. It's so stupid that is't funny and entertaining. It's also nice to see how much drama other people go through, even if it's fake, and kind of forget about the drama that actually surrounds me. The only other reality TV show I watch is Pawn Stars. It's cool to see what kind of stuff people bring into pawn shops, how much they get for their stuff, and how much it's worth. Those are the only reality TV shows that I watch, and I think all of the others just don't grab my attention.
Never Bloged before
So I have never blogged before nor do I really know how to use one so I am hating this already. I strongly dislike reality TV shows because of the drama that the "star" brings upon him/her self because they want to portray a certain image. Pretty much to sum up this post, I don't watch reality TV. I have never seen Jersey Shore or any other ones. So, this will probably kill me if I have to watch them.
I guess I enjoy reality t.v. afterall..
I never considered myself to be an avid reality t.v. show watcher. However, after being assigned to this blog, I realized that I have done my fair share of reality show watching. Growing up, I made sure never to miss an episode of shows like America's Next Top Model and American Idol. I even kept up with the a bunch of the Real World seasons. When I came to college, I found myself having less time to watch t.v. and the amount of shows I watched decreased drastically. I still find myself watching the Kardashians' shows, such as Keeping up with the Kardashians and Kourtney and Khloe take Miami, as well as bravo shows like Project Runway and Top Chef. I think that reality t.v. shows give us a break from our own lives and give us a look into the glamourous lives of celebrities or allow us to watch everyday people go from ordinary to extraordinary.
20 years of Jerry Springer
Speaking of reality tv... one of the first most popular reality television shows is celebrating 20 years. Give it up to Jerry Springer! He has some interesting insight into his show and its relevance. See the clip of his interview by Chelsea Handler on her late night talk show Chelsea Lately:

Reality TV
At first, reality t.v. was not on my favorite things to watch list. However, with all the new shows like Jersey Shore or America's next top model, I found my self watching every episode. Even though you could tell the majority of it is scripted, they way they act and talk about each other is just how real life is. Many people may disagree but I feel like in our lives we have those moments where we are in the room alone making assumptions about people or talking behind someone's back. Also these reality shows are pure entertainment with all the fights, break ups, make ups, whatever the case it is always interesting to see.
Not a Fan
I've never been a fan of reality TV. I just don't see the amusement of entertainment of watching somebody else's life. Especially when its not really their life. You can only tune the camera out so long, you can only ignore the pressure so long, and I cmon, you definitely don't forget about the microphone thats wired under your shirt 24 hours a day. Its only so "real." You have to remember its their show. The "star" shows you what he/she wants you to see. They don't put it all in their for your viewing. Its just overall not as real as people think it is.
First Blog
Never blogged before, this should be interesting. The only reality tv I watch is jersey shore, of course. That's also the only tv I watch.
Who knew how much fun blogging could be?
Well I pretty much love love love reality tv, whether its Jersey Shore, Real Housewives, or the Real World. I'm what you would define as hooked. I don't know why exactly I enjoy spending every thursday night glued to my tv screen waiting for the camera to roll over to Pauly D's face when he mentions the IFF. I guess it's just a form of entertainment that most people can relate to since it's "reality television." Either way I'm obsessed.
Reality Tv show
I've never really understand blog before but I'm sure that it will be fun to do throughout this semester. I have several favorite reality tv shows. Keeping up with the kardashians and jersey shore are pretty interesting . Keepin up with the kardashians present many aspects of our society. Anything from family to relationship issues can be found in this show. They also have a lot of other issues and situations that are very common to our society.
First Blog!
Never really understood blogging, but I guess I am quickly going to learn about it. But Jersey Shore is defiantly the most amusing reality TV show!

I can't believe I am blogging here
So I promised myself to never get into this whole big blogging thing. It reminds me of facebook stuff, but whatever there is a first time for everything. I am looking foward to seeing fake reality tv shows for our class. Might as well start watching New Jersey Shore now...
And I vowed never to post on a blog...
So, I just need some clarification. What differentiates a reality TV show from any other TV show? Does it require a laugh track or something?
Oh and if it classifies as a reality TV show, I'd say Full House is the one I dislike the most. Why? Because every day after school for all of my 6th grade life, my sister and her friend watched that show for however many hours it was on. Instead of the show growing on me, I just learned to stop watching TV altogether. That way I didn't have to endure it anymore. Maybe I would've ended up enjoying a few reality TV shows if I wasn't subjected to them at such a young and energetic age.

What's your favorite RTV show????
For your first post I want you to share your favorite reality tv show and, if you feel so inclined, your least favorite reality tv show. If you don't watch reality tv, you must have read about it or have been exposed to enough of this pop culture phenomenon to have an opinion. Share that opinion here on this blog. When you tell us your favorite show, don't forget to tell why! You will always have to back up your opinions... on this blog and in this class!
Remember I want this blog to be a fun space. Here we can be opinionated but never disrespectful or hurtful. Again remember that our opinions must be educated opinions... back up what you say!
