RTV: The Genre

Many shows on television today are labeled as "reality shows." However, this genre of media has progressively created a realistically false world where the characters engage morally corrupt and unlawful activities to draw the attention of curious viewers. One particular popular show, "Jersey Shore," falls under the category of 'morally corrupt' where the ideas of love and respectful communication are brought down to a meaningless level. In opposition to "Jersey Shore" is the Discovery channel show known as "The Myth Busters." In this show, education is valued and innovation is inspired. Myth Busters coincidentally contrasts to Jersey Shore in the areas it promotes by offering interesting applications to the real world.
