The Amazing Race

I chose to analyze the amazing race. I have only watched a couple seasons since it has been on, but I would love to be on it someday. Plus there is actually a goal and purpose in mind which is nice.

1) I think this show is mainly about appeasing your desire for adventure and excitement. A lot of people watch purely for the entertainment aspect of it. Only a few people actually get to experience this show, and watching this show lets people feel like they are getting close to experiencing the thrill of bungee jumping or sailing. People want to do this so they watch it.

2)Well you have to be 21 to be on the show so it is definitely targeted more towards adults. But not just young, in-shape adults, many teams consist of a older father or mother and their child. This show captures those who want to live on the edge through fierce competition and thrilling activities.

3) Jerry Bruckheimer produced the show which somewhat automatically got people interested because of his successful film career. A lot of sports car commercial also sponsor the show further appealing the thrill-seeking audiences.

4) The Amazing Race is considered a game show; perhaps one of the longest game shows. It is literally a race around the world for 1 million dollars and the experience of a lifetime. Personally i would give up the 1 million dollars just to travel to all those places.

5) The plot structure is not complex at all. It is simply competition among teams in a race for a million dollars. However, certain twists like u-turns are thrown into the game to instigate drama occasionally.

6) Overall the show is very professional aimed at adults. Most of the challenges and obstacles are fun because everyone wants to have fun no matter how old you are.
