Recently, a lot of shows about people finding valuable items in their piles of junk have been appearing a lot on TV. Shows like American Pickers and Storage Wars consist of people looking through other people’s trash and finding many worthless items, but sometimes finding something truly valuable (usually after being fixed up first). These shows get the audience involved because you connect with the main stars of the show. They each have a different personality and style, and they make the show more entertaining. The target audience is definitely an older crowd, but I do think that younger people enjoy it as well. These shows are not action-packed, but they are interesting and still provide entertainment. I think people enjoy watching these shows because there are a lot of cool items that show up, and you learn in each episode. I think the state of the economy also plays a part in this because the audience wonders if they too have things sitting in storage that could be worth money now, making what they thought was trash more valuable.
