Auction Hunters

I think maybe the sudden interest in these shows could have something to do with the economy. I think what people find interesting about these shows is how people can turn what appears to be junk into something useful. I think the target audience for these types of shows is older men maybe because they might find it more entertaining to watch. The people on the show are usually men as well so this is why I think it would be targeted for this audience. They may reach out to this audience by what they find and what the producers think would interest the audience. You capture the viewers’ attention is that you never know what they will find. The audience might also find it fun to guess how much the item is going to auction for. If someone enjoys going to auctions they might watch the show to learn more about how much things are worth and get better at auctioning. The show “Auction Hunters” is a perfect example of the auctions that take place and the characterization that attract a certain audience. Episode of Auction hunters.

I agree with your point that the audience is captivated by the element of surprise in each episode. You never know what they will find, and sometimes things that seem worthless can end up being very valuable and expensive. This definitely keeps the audience's attention.
