ANALYZE AN EPISODE

For this week's blog I would like you to do an exercise similar to the one we did in class today. Pick an online episode of any RTV show of your choice. Watch it and analyze. Include the link to the episode in your post. Go down the list we covered in the analysis powerpoint. I want you to begin by looking at things such as audience, characterization, purpose, genre, structure, etc. You might notice things we talked about in class such as stereotyping, gender, class, or race issues, evidence of consumerism, etc. Remember to provide evidence! give details from the episode that prove your conclusion for each category.
Identify/Analyze:
1. purpose of the show (prove it...how do you know this?)
2. audience (you might identify the intended audience vs. the actual audience)
3. author/speaker (who endorses the show? why is this significant?)
4. genre (what category does it fit in? game show, family show, drama, educational, about a profession?...)
5. structure (look at how the plot is structured. is it complex? how do you know? prove it with details from the show)
6. look at other elements such as font, film style, music, etc. how do these things affect the overall tone of the show?
