The Bachelor Finale

I chose to analyze the final episode of this season of The Bachelor because I have been following the entire season and am very familiar with the show. Here is a link to the episode: http://abc.go.com/watch/the-bachelor/SH559030/VD55117295/week-10-part-1
In the final episode, Brad gives 'the final rose' to one of two girls, Emily or Chantal, to chose who he wants to ask for his hand in marriage .

1. purpose of the show
The purpose of The Bachelor is to show the process of how one man chooses a girl within the span of 10 weeks to find a fiance. The show is watched by viewers because of the entertainment of watching the girls fight for the bachelor's love.
2. audience )
The intended audience of this show are viewers in their 20s-40s. This is evident because that is the age of the bachelors and bachelorettes that are on the show. Because it is a dating show, I believe the audience is more for woman than it is for men. This can also be proven by the fact that there were commercials for woman's Dove Body Wash during the show.
3. author/speaker
The network the show is on is ABC, which is known for having shows that pertain to adults, and the Bachelor is no different. The network caters to a very broad audience, but the Bachelor fits in very well with other ABC shows.
4. genre
The genre of the show would fit into the dating show category of reality tv.
5. structure
The structure of the show is fairly complex because it goes through a lot of different elements to get to a final result. The bachelor goes on group dates, one on one dates, talks with all of the girls, and finally picks which girls are sent home every week until he gets to the finale.
6. look at other elements such as font, film style, music, etc. how do these things affect the overall tone of the show?
Every so often, each of the contestants will have a confessional taping, where they are one on one with the producers and answer questions. This is used to add a more realistic tone to the show because it tries to portray what the girls are really feeling. The music on the show is very dramatic, especially during elimination ceremony, which makes them more intense.
