One Man's Trash, Another Man's Treasure
This is a great topic! Undoubtedly, there have been an increasing amount of 'trash to treasure' shows popping up around the TV world. Most notably, the Discovery channel has been the source of many shows revolving this new hit genre... From "Desert Car Kings," to "South Beach Classics," and to the leader of the 'trash to treasure,' "Auction Kings," all of which have contributed to inspiring new interests in the old America. In an economical point of view, the source of this new found interest could quite possible be tied to the current recession. As the average household budget goes down, aspirations for whats brand new will become more and more impractical. Consequentially, TV viewers/ consumers want to see something they can relate to in terms of a lower budget.

I think you make a good point when you said that new things are becoming more impractical, because in the economy now people want to save as much as they can.
