The Real World: Las Vegas

Episode 2

1. Purpose:
This is your typical reality tv show, in which they film everyone in a house just so you can see the drama everyone goes through. This is evident because as they presented the season trailer, it showed all of them hooking up or fighting as dramatically exaggerated as could be.
2. Audience:
Teenagers and young adults are the primary target audience for this show. These people will be more attracted to the lives of these roommates as they drink and party.
3. Author:
The show is endorsed by MTV and this is significant because judging by other shows on this channel (Jersey Shore, Teen Mom, etc.) one can tell that the audience for this show is teenagers and young adults.
4. Genre:
Drama.
5. Plot:
The structure of the plot does not look too complex, it is your typical reality tv show where they televise the behaviors of these roommates as they misbehave and cause trouble within the house as well as outside in the open.
6. Tone:
The tone in which this film is set is pretty much laid back and just relaxed, exemplifying how open-minded and easy going these people are. At the same time there is a buildup of tension due to the expected drama that is about to unleash.

I would say this show goes along with the article we read in class, in that it can encourage negative behavior if younger kids watch it. They might think that drinking and partying is okay at a young age. So i agree that it is intended for teens and young adults that are mature enough to not mimic the negative things from the show and just watch it for entertainment.
