All RTV shows to blame?
We know JS is very scripted and fake. But what about some of the other RTV shows that are on? Surely, if it has "reality" in the name, it must be the farthest thing from it right? I don't particularly agree with that. For example, The Biggest Loser started airing in 2004. Every season since then, they have had obese contestants racing (literally) to win a grand total of $250,000. They have a specific format for each show that they follow in a sequence: 1. Temptation round 2. Reward Challenge 3. Last Chance Workout 4. Weigh-in 5. The vote. Of course these rounds are very scripted and thought out, but is the losing weight for a monetary incentive also fake? I'm not sure, thats why I'm asking! Is it predetermined who will lose the most weight and who will take the money home?

That's a good point actually. I think most reality shows have scripting up to a point, but some parts are left to true actions. It probably depends on the show. Some shows may have most of what happens be written, leaving very little to chance, while others may be almost entirely true reality. It makes me wonder if shows like Who Wants To Be a Millionaire are fixed. I don't think so, primarily because of this video.
I think that this is one of the few reality TV shows that actually has some reality too it. Like you said, the rounds surely are thought out and predetermined but i actually feel like these are real people on these shows. They work hard to lose the weight and its more real than any other show such as Real World or Jersey Shore. Those are easy to script. Throw a fight in, a hookup, an issue, where the scripters of shows like The Biggest Loser cant control who wins because they cant really choose who loses the most weight etc. It just is cool to actually have some chance in these shows as the biggest loser has.
