RTV Variations

The way I see it there's quite a bit of variation among what we define as reality television. You have your shows such as Jersey Shore, The Hills, Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami, The Simple Life, and Laguna Beach, which have absolutely no plot, and no point other than to entertain us with the everyday drama-filled lives of some mostly talent-less socialites. Then you have your shows like The Real World, Big Brother, American Idol, America's Next Top Model, So You Think You Can Dance?, Project Runway, and Survivor, which showcase real people put to challenges and competitions to show off their talents to the world. And lastly you've got your informative RTV shows like Man vs. Wild, Dirty Jobs, Myth Busters, Pawn Stars, and American Pickers. So, this makes me wonder... What do you think defines Reality TV? And which of the three variations are you most hooked on?
