So I just got done watching the first episode of the documentary show The World of Jenks, and to be honest I was really surprised how it affected me. Before I even watched the show I only had seen the trailers and assumed it was going to be another one of those dumb shows where everything is staged. The funny thing is I was wrong. From the second the show started and I was informed by Andrew Jenks that he had lived in a nursing home just because he wanted to know "what it was like to be old," I knew this show was not what I had expected.
The episode that I had watched was the very first show where Jenks moved in with famous rapper, Manio to see what his lifestlye was like. The documentary captured my attention from start to finish. My eyes were glued. I think my favorite part was when Andrew Jenks was describing why he moves in with all these different types of people; because it helps him grow more as a person and get a better understanding of them.
The show definitely sends out a positive message in my opinion. It's telling it's viewers, who happen to be teenagers, not to judge or misinterpret people without getting to know them. I believe that it's a really positive thing for MTV to do especially when one of it's most popular show deals with the "stereotypical persona" of someone from New Jersey Shore.
