Are all "bums" really bums?
Jenks befriends a "houseless" woman named Danielle. Danielle, also known as Heavy D, blew me away with her character and personality. I thought that every person that lived on the streets was out there because they were drug addicts, or becuase they were scumbags, Heavy D proved me to be way wrong. The reason she was on the streets is because her parents were abusive alcoholics when she was younger, so she ran away at the age of 13. Her mom had her social security card so Danielle couldnt ever go get an ID, meaning no way to get a job. Danielle is so thankful for all of the little things in life that we take for granted every day, and in no way is somebody that we should look down on or say rude things to if we saw her sitting outside a resturaunt asking for leftovers or spare change. the thing that i liked most, is that at the end of the episode Jenks gave Heavy D a cell phone and she started crying. most teens nowadays would cry if they DIDNT have a phone, but to see somebody get so happy to finally have one is a moving sight. So just because somebody is living on the streets doesnt mean that they arent good people, nor does it mean that they are addicted to drugs. It just takes one little slip up and anybody could be out there on the streets. Jenks shows us that just because you dont have a house to live in doesnt mean that you arent human and dont deserve to be treated like one.
