Defining RTV

For me reality tv is defined as a show that uses real people and documents aspects of their life whether it be their family, job, or social issues. I'm personally more hooked on the reality tv shows like Myth Busters or American Pickers because they don't require drama and stupidity to draw in viewers. Shows like that have taken a new approach to reality tv without characters like snooki or kim kardashian to hype up the the publicity of the show and to bring in an audience. They are intersting in a way that's more intelligent and compelling.

I agree with this post. Mythbusters definitely requires more of a thought process to watch. Jersey Shore is too dramatic and full of bull. The ACTORS in Jersey Shore only act the way they do because there are cameras around and massive amounts of money at stake. Mythbusters and other shows like it thrive because they engage the mind and challenge people to think. They do the shows because its about a topic they enjoy. By the way, Mythbusters has recent signed a contract for 7 more years, so they will be around for a while longer.

I agree with you on this. as entertaining as the stupid reality shows can be, you cant help but have a stupid sensation afterwards. reality shows on discovery and history channel at least leave you with a sense of intelligence, like you learned something. Even shows the man vs wild, which has been under scrutiny of its viewers for faking or acting it out. This show is teaches and shows things you would have no idea how to do
