Same old story.. Same old wife swap with the Thompson and Askam family
Once again, I am presented with an episode of two stereotyped families. The first family is presented as the father of the household is the superior one of all. His wife does all the household work and satisfies him in every way possible. The children and even the dog have higher authority than the mother does. The show illustrates the mother as a household slave basically with her only job is to serve at will. On the other hand, we are presented with a family of magic beliefs. The children and father believe that the mother is a witch and a goddess-like figure. They bow down to all of her commands and practice all her witchcraft everyday. The family believes the mother to be a high priestess of the spirits above and they have their own church with a few followers. Clearly, one family shows women as an object, or a tool of handy work with little to no power as to the other family alludes women to a goddess-like status that is pure feminism with all will-power. These two do not match up well and throughout the episode, each family shows all the flaws of one another and they do not get along well at all.
